With so many brands, businesses and manufacturers using Single Mine Origin (SMO) Gold to differentiate their products, it is important that this is reflected in the finished pieces that are sold both nationally and internationally.
We’ve worked closely with the Birmingham Assay Office to develop an SMO Gold Logo Mark that can be applied to finished jewellery creations, thereby adding another layer of assurance, trust and integrity to pieces crafted in SMO Gold. This logo mark is placed alongside traditional hallmarks, including fineness, maker’s marks and date marks, to signify that the gold present comes from a traceable and transparent source, recognised by SMO Gold for its ESG credentials.
Looking ahead, customers will soon be able to request that the SMO Gold Logo Mark be added to their products. This can then be shared with end consumers who are increasingly demanding greater transparency when purchasing precious metals.
Rather than just telling them that a piece is produced in fully traceable, transparent and responsible Single Mine Origin Gold, it will be possible to show them through a loupe or microscope. This adds value to the sales process, while spotlighting the principles that have contributed to the success of SMO Gold.
SMO Gold Co-Founder and The Betts Group Managing Director, Charlie Betts, says: “We proudly stock one of the most diverse ranges of gold in the UK, including Single Mine Origin (SMO). By incorporating the SMO Gold Logo Mark into finished jewellery pieces, our customers can ensure the ethos of responsibility and transparency reaches the end consumer, while also demonstrating the positive impact that mining can have on communities worldwide.”
Birmingham Assay Office Commercial Manager, Marie Brennan, adds: “The SMO Gold Logo Mark is a key part of the SMO narrative, symbolising traceability, responsibility, and integrity. Alongside the UK hallmark, which provides essential consumer protection, it delivers both transparency and trust. Together, they give the SMO story a clear, credible presence that consumers can believe in.” In order to utilise the SMO Gold Logo Mark, it is important that you register to become an Authorised User. The easiest way to do this is to complete the online form here, and a member of The Betts Group team will get in touch with you to advise on next steps.
