Technical Note – Pt/W Alloy

The Betts Group now uses a modern Pt/W (platinum/tungsten) alloy across our wedding ring range, offering improved hardness, durability and resistance to wear, making it ideal for everyday wedding ring wear. Bright white in colour with excellent finishing and long term appearance retention.
Pt/W alloys require a higher heat input during soldering. Standard Platinum Hard solder (1420–1445°C) and Platinum Easy solder (1010–1030°C) are both suitable.
For piecing in, please use matching Pt/W 3mm or 6mm square wire. Pt/W 0.3mm laser wire is also available.
