Workshop Essentials: Curate a Better Bench
A productive workshop starts with the right foundations. At the Jewellery Show, we’ll be showcasing the Durston Student Bench, a practical professional workbench designed for stability, organisation and efficiency. With a substantial 25mm hardwood working surface, retaining surround, bench peg, adjustable armrests, mandrel holes and side-mounted tool holder, it provides everything needed for a well-organised bench. The leatherette apron also helps capture tools and filings, keeping your workspace cleaner.
Good lighting is equally important for precision work. The Durston Curved LED Task Light provides wide, shadow-free illumination with adjustable brightness and colour temperature. Its flexible mounting options and fully adjustable arm make it easy to position exactly where you need it – whether you're working on intricate pieces or photographing finished jewellery.
Also on show will be the Durston Superior LED Task Bench Light, featuring 162 LEDs, 2,500 lumens and five brightness levels. Its balanced arm and 360° rotation provide impressive reach and flexibility, helping you achieve bright, true-to-colour illumination exactly where it's needed.
Workshop Upgrades: Improve Performance and Efficiency
For workshops looking to take their setup further, we’ll be showcasing several powerful additions.
The Quatro Gold Vault Extra-Compact Fume & Dust Collector combines powerful 150 CFM airflow with three-stage filtration to capture dust, fumes and precious metal particles at source. Its compact design, variable speed control and dual-hose connection make it a versatile option for applications including engraving, grinding, polishing and soldering.
The Badeco MX-2 Revolt Strong Micromotor is built for demanding precision work, offering excellent torque, speed control and versatility. Supplied with the rotary quick-change HP 465 handpiece, it is suitable for everything from polishing, drilling and milling to engraving, stone setting and deburring.
For detailed finishing, the Ultrasonic Piezo Burnisher delivers 28,000 vibrations per second to refine cast components, helping reduce surface roughness and improve consistency without removing excessive material. It is particularly useful for intricate designs, filigree and difficult-to-reach areas.
We’ll also have the Lortone 33B Double Rotary Barrel on display – a quiet, hard-wearing solution for polishing, deburring and texturing jewellery. With two barrels, it allows multiple finishing processes to take place simultaneously.
Innovative Technology: Precision Analysis, Wherever You Work
Technology is transforming the way jewellery professionals test and analyse precious metals, and visitors to our stand will be able to see some of the latest developments.
The SciAps X-5 Precious Metal Analyser combines a compact, lightweight design with high-precision XRF analysis. With an Android-based platform, integrated connectivity and a built-in camera for accurate sample positioning, it is designed to provide fast, convenient analysis in a wide range of environments.
For a benchtop solution, the SciAps Powerhouse PM Benchtop Analyser delivers laboratory-grade precious metal analysis in a compact, portable package. It can provide carat readings within seconds, with a 7-inch touchscreen, targeting camera and integrated connectivity helping results fit seamlessly into your workflow.
More Ways to Test: Confidence in Every Result
We’ll also be showcasing a selection of testing devices designed to make gemstone and precious metal identification faster and more straightforward. The SmartPro Gem-Eye I uses thermal conductivity technology to help identify gemstones and simulants, with an ultra-fine probe capable of testing stones as small as 1mm. Portable and easy to use, it is designed for accurate testing in the workshop or on the move.
The SmartPro MAX takes gemstone testing further, combining thermal and optical technologies in a handheld 5-in-1 diamond and gemstone tester. It can distinguish between earth-mined and lab-grown diamonds, moissanite, cubic zirconia and other simulants, including loose and mounted stones.
Finally, the AuRACLE Electronic Analyser provides fast gold testing from 8ct to 24ct, displaying results in just 2–3 seconds. Requiring no acids and offering battery or mains operation, it is designed for convenient testing in busy workshop and retail environments.
